The debilitating consequences of allergy carelessness
Despite living with an allergy my entire life, I have grown accustom to making sure I don’t ingest anything that may jeopardize my life. However in recent times I have let my guard down and I have since suffered the consequences.
Perhaps it was my weakness for brownies that was my undoing, as I made the moronic decision to purchase not 1, but 2 brownies which had very clearly not included any nuts. Although it had the typical warning “made in a factory where nuts are used”, I had never ran into a product with that warning actually give me an allergic reaction, so I was confident I would be fine. Alas, after the first brownie I felt uneasy and rather unwell, yet for some bovine reason I thought to myself, “Hmm I suppose this is just an unlucky brownie, the next one should be alright” and naturally I felt even worse after I ate the second one.
Now as I sit here, typing this, my skin is bubbly and puffy, resembling that of a teenagers face. I have also had to wrap myself in bandages to conceal my rather unsightly skin. It is still very noticeable. I believe some students may have thought I am diseased in some way. I have had to assure them it is not contagious. This is purgatory. So from now on I shall be outrageously cautious
so I never have to repeat this horrendous incident.
