2月も2週目に入り来週はバレンタインデーがありますね💙💓💚💛
私も学生時代は手作りのチョコレートをたくさん作り、大切な人やお世話になっている人、仲の良い友達や、クラスメイトにもたくさんチョコレートを作りました🍫💕
今年はコロナウイルスの影響もあって残念ながら控えなければなりませんが…💦
ところで、今回は土曜日と日曜日に入間校にもレッスンをしに来てくれるアメリカ人のVincentよりアメリカのバレンタインデーについて記事を書いてもらいました
なんとVincentはアメリカにいた時は作家だったそうですよ🤩

Valentine’s Day is THE day in America
In America, both men and women give gifts to show appreciation of others on February 14th. The number of people one gives gifts to on this day of love tends to be limited to immediate family members: spouses, children, and parents. Just like most other holidays, such as Easter or Halloween, confections are usually the preferred and most popular gift to give on Valentine’s Day, such as chocolate or other sweet treats.
To go further, and express romantic love, a man or woman may arrange for a romantic dinner or other quiet activities a couple may enjoy together. In some cases, men may offer gifts of jewelry or more expensive items, especially if they are trying to fully express their love of another.
A date on Valentine’s Day is a fairly serious occasion, and not to be treated lightly.
While here in Japan the holiday of appreciation and love is split, one day only for men in February and a day only for women in March, in America it all happens on February 14th.
Valentine’s Day is also a big day for greeting card companies, which sell millions of Valentine’s Day cards every year. To increase business, the greeting card business about 35 years ago tried to create an autumn day similar to Valentine’s Day called Sweetest Day. I think it was in October. But most people saw this additional holiday as simply a money grab, and ignored it.
Let me check and see if this holiday even still is a thing in America … hold on …it is! I guess maybe there are people somewhere in America who need not one, but two special days to spoil the people they love with chocolate and, of course, greeting cards!
