Pools in the US
Swimming pools are common in some places in the US. In the city, there might be a public pool, like at a gym in Japan. The pool is usually outside, and very crowded. People need to cool off in the summertime, though, so they pay a small fee to enter the pool, or they might have a membership. It is also common to sit on the side of the pool and relax. People might even drink a beer!
Outside of the city, there are also public pools. It is common for kids to have their birthday party at the pool sometimes! The pools are full of kids almost all the time. There are many lifeguards watching the kids at all times. Sometimes, the lifeguards call “adult swim,” when all the kids have to get out of the pool, and only adults can swim. It’s great for the parents! The pool might have a diving board, and a deep area that goes down almost 4 meters deep!
Some people even have pools at their house. In some more wealthy areas, people can have a whole pool area in their back yard. They are usually used to host pool parties. People play a lot of swimming games at these parties. People also cook barbecue food like hamburgers and hot dogs.
