Are there any good sightseeing spots around your home town?
では、先週の続きです！
When we arrived at Yakuri temple I was impressed by its beauty, and as we progressed I was also impressed by the smaller tengu building at the back.
It’s next to this building that the hidden path to the top of mountain lines. Having to duck under a metal luggage track we started making our way up a dirt path through the trees on the side of the mountain.
The path was not obvious and seemed to blend into the wild of the forest, signaled by red tape that had been wrapped around tree branches. The further we got up the more camouflaged the path seemed to get. Nearer the top, the steepness of the mountain could only be overcome by metal ladders and ropes that some daring monks had installed in the past. These ladders were old and worn by time, and certainly dangerous to climb. Finally we reached the top. My friend and I took a breather and also took some photos of the spectacular view of Takamatsu and the Seto sea. Climbing down was equally as perilous as climbing up, but taking our time we carefully descended and found ourselves back at Yakuri temple.
Overall this was an adventurous day out and definitely a challenging hike. Even though it was fun and the view was spectacular. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who is inexperienced or people who are on their own. There was a high degree of danger to this climb.
