ちょっと前になるのですが、
大宮校のHarrry先生👨🐨が
ゴールデンウィークに小田原に行ってきたそうです！
どんな感じだったか教えてくれましたよ！
This golden week I travelled to odawara castle.
Going from nishi-Kawaguchi to odawara is a long way,
so I took it as a great chance to ride the bullet train (Shinkansen).
今年のゴールデンウィークは小田原城へ旅行に行ってきました。西川口から小田原までは距離が長いので、新幹線にのる絶好のチャンスでした。
→ちなみに新幹線🚄は英語で’Shinkansen’でも通じるそうですよ😉
As a one of special trip,
the bullet train is a great way to travel quickly in Japan,
but I don’t think I’ll be using it too often given how convenient the regular trains already are
and just how much of a difference the price is.
特別な旅行で日本では素早く移動するのに新幹線を利用するのは良い方法ですが、電車も普段使用し、すでに便利と知っているので新幹線との違いを考えると新幹線は高いので頻繁に使用しないと思います。
→確かに日本人でさえも新幹線乗るときは✨特別✨な時ですもんね😁
Arriving at odawara, spotting a well placed statue,
I figured it must be the way to go.
小田原に到着し、立派に建っている像を見つけてこの道とすぐにわかりました。

The site was a lot larger than I expected.
木々の間から、小田原城のてっぺんが見えました！
敷地は思った以上に広かったです。
Since the castle itself was quite small,
the surrounding fortifications seemed to stretch on much further than was necessary,
but I suppose that’s what makes their defence so strong.
お城自体は小さかったので、周囲の要塞が必要以上に広く感じましたが、
それが城壁を頑丈にしているのだろうと思いました。
→日本のお城は本当によく考えられて作られてますよね！😎
As an archaeologist, it was amazing to see so much of the original excavation records not only preserved,
but also put on display to the public.
考古学者として、これほど多くの本物の発掘記録が保存されているだけでなく、公に公開されていることには驚きました。
→実はHarrry先生は大学で考古学⛏を勉強していたんですよ！
Walking around the castle and it’s defences was amazing.
お城の周りを歩き回ってみても城壁はすごかったです！
Unfortunately for me though (being somewhat short of hair) the sun shone very bright that day.
悲しいことに髪の毛がとっても短いので、その日の強い日差しが大変でした。
→確かに紫外線🌞も気になりますね！笑
Taking the scenic route home on the train,
I got to look through all my pictures and put on a little after sun
風光明媚な帰り道、撮影した全ての写真を電車の中で見ながら日が少し暮れてからに家に到着しました。
→旅行の時に撮影した写真📷ってその日に見返すのが楽しいですよね😊
