本日はArran先生の出身地Blackpoolについてご紹介です🛫
My hometown, Blackpool.
I am from Blackpool, Lancashire, in England. I spent 22 or 23 years there. I love the place, and I love the people.
There are donkeys on the beach. There is a tower by the sea. It looks like a smaller version of the Eiffel Tower. There is a fun amusement park called The Pleasure Beach. There is also a zoo and there are lots of fish and chip shops.
Blackpool has probably changed a lot since I came to Japan 5 years ago. My friend recently sent me photos of some stores that had permanently closed down. There seem to be a lot of empty shops on the high street nowadays.
Whenever I meet students who have heard of Blackpool, it is usually because of the international ballroom dance competition held there every year.
We also have a successful football team who won the FA Cup in 1953. They wear tangerine coloured shirts. They played in the Premier League during the 2010/2011 season. My father took me to my first game at Bloomfield Road when I was very young, I think we beat Rotherham 3-1.
Many stag and hen parties are attracted to Blackpool. A stag party is known as a bachelor party in the USA, and a hen party is known as a bachelorette party. You can see them at night every weekend drinking a lot of alcohol, dancing in nightclubs and sometimes fighting in the streets.
It is a great place. I would love to return to Blackpool to live there again in the future, but for now I am happy living here in Japan.
