👻ハロウィン🦇の季節になりましたね！
街はハロウィン一色です！
香川の商店街でも毎年ハロウィンの仮装大会が行われてます！
カナダ出身のMikeがどんなハロウィンを過ごしてきたのかを教えてくれました🎃
Although Halloween is not considered a national holiday in Canada, it is still regarded as one of the most important celebrations in the country. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to scare away ghosts. The celebration has evolved through many centuries to become the Halloween as we now know it.
The celebration acitivies vary greatly depending on the age group. Children in elementary school for example, would carve spooky faces on to pumpkins, (jack-o-lanterns) , create tissue paper ghosts, and bake cookies or sweets with spooky characters on them.
High Schoolers and junior high schoolers on the other hand would hold Halloween school dances where the students would all purchase a ticket, dress up in ridiculous Halloween costumes and ask for a date.
Of course there are the acitivities that have become very popular like trick-or-treating and dressing up in costumes , but these are just a few of the many activities that are done on this day.
All in all I am glad that Halloween has become as popular all over the world as it has. The nostalgic, cool, and smoky smell of the autumn season, and the feeling of trick-or-treating with a group of close friends is something that I hope everyone gets to experience. Remember, you are never too old to dress up for Halloween! WoooooooOOOOOoooooooooo.
