さて今回はAustralia出身のHarrison先生にオーストラリアの
気候について聞いてみましたよ♪
Rainy season is nearly over, so hopefully we can all be dry soon!
Many students ask me if we have a rainy season in Australia, so today I want to talk about Australia’s climate.
I grew up on the coast of south-east Queensland, where we do kind of have a rainy season with tropical storms and cyclones every year. My hometown actually gets around 1,480mm of rain every year, which is only a little less than Hiroshima’s 1,640mm.
Australia is a very big country though and in the centre of the country there is very little rain every year. The national average rainfall is only around 420mm, compared to Japan’s 1,530mm. For that reason, most of Australia has a dry season and lots of droughts every year.
In the future, if you ever want to escape Japan’s rainy season go ahead and visit central Australia, it’s nice and dry there!
