日本でクリスマスと言えば
イルミネーションを観に行ったり
お家でチキンを食べてクリスマスパーティーをしたりなど
ワクワクするようなイベントがたくさんありますよね(*^▽^*)🎉🍗
各国のクリスマスはどんな風に過ごすのでしょうか？
講師たちに一問一答で答えてもらいました🌟
まずは英語編です！
アメリカ出身の講師とイギリス出身の講師に聞いてみました！

Q1.あなたの国ではクリスマスの準備はいつから行いますか？
In my country, Christmas season would probably start the day after Thanksgiving on Black Friday. There would be big sales that day so people would start shopping for Christmas gifts. /US
When I was a kid we only started seeing decorations around a couple of weeks before Christmas. Since then the season has stretched well into November I think. /UK
Q2.家ではクリスマスの準備はいつから行いますか？
Christmas season at home would start when we put up Christmas decorations and the tree. Some time in December. /US
My family always left things to the last minute so usually we would only put up the tree a couple of days before Christmas. /UK
Q3.あなたの国では一般的にクリスマスはどのように過ごしますか？
Christmas day would be family time. All of my family and relatives would go to our grandparents home to celebrate. /US
Christmas is a family time so I always spent time visiting grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and other distant relatives. /UK
Q4.あなた自身ではどのようにクリスマスを過ごしますか？
または、過ごすのが理想ですか？
I spent Christmas with family in Hawaii. It is always a lot of fun and I wouldn’t want it any other way! /US
In recent years in Japan I spend Christmas at home with my family, sometimes having friends over for lunch. It would be nice to go back to the uk for Christmas some time. /UK
Q5.日本ではクリスマスと言ったら、12/24のことで
12/25にはもうお正月の準備に街中は変わっていきます。
あなたの国では12/24と25両方、クリスマスで盛り上がっていますか？
On the 24th and 25th, most shops are closed and people are with their families. Much like on new year here. /US
Many people work up until 24th and Christmas Eve is often spent with friends, usually at the pub. 25th is a family day spent at home. /UK
Q6.クリスマスに食べるもの、食べたいものは何ですか？
Christmas food for my family is usually a mix of American food and Asian food. Turkey and mashed potatoes, spring rolls and rice dishes, etc. The food I miss would be the food my relatives make. /US
The main thing is the roast turkey served with stuffing and cranberry sauce. My sisters family always make a nut roast because they’re vegetarians. Christmas pudding has dried fruit and is soaked in brandy and set alight. Watch out for hidden coins!
I miss roast parsnips but don’t miss sprouts! /UK
Q7.クリスマスならではの挨拶はありますか？
いつ、誰に言いますか？
会った時以外に、メールやクリスマスカードで伝えますか？
Sending Chrismas cards is becoming less and less common.
Mostly people send pictures and family updates. /US
Merry Christmas (and a happy new year).
I usually send a Christmas card and gift to close family. /UK

We say “christmas” but it can be shortened to “xmas”. Some people prefer to say “seasons greetings”.
Q9.英語で「モミの木」は何と言いますか？
We say “Christmas tree” and they are usually fir trees（モミの木）.
Q10.英語で「サンタクロース」は何と言いますか？
Usually Santa or Father Christmas but other lesser known aliuses include Saint Nicholas and Kris Kringle.
