近年、日本でもハロウィンを楽しむ様子が
ニュースなどでも話題になっていますね！
実はこのハロウィンの由来は、10月31日の夜に
先祖の霊が家族に会いに戻ってくると信じられていました。
しかし、悪霊も一緒にやって来て、作物に悪い影響を与えたり、
子どもをさらったり、悪いことをするといわれていました。
そこで人々は悪霊を驚かせて追い払うことを思いつき、
仮面をかぶったり、仮装をしたり、魔除けの焚き火を行ったといわれます💀
では、海外ではどのようにしてハロウィンを迎えるのでしょうか？

October is nearly here, and with October comes one of the most popular events of the year, Halloween!
In my childhood, every October 31st, we would dress up in costume and go to school. We would take a class picture followed by and mini Trick or Treat session, where we went around the school and asked the teacher staff for candy! I dressed as a cowboy for a few years until I outgrew my costume.
After school, we would return home and prepare for the real trick or treating event. We went to the houses around our neighborhood and knocked on doors and said “Trick or Treat!” And we received candy. The best treats were from houses that usually had the most elaborate decorations.
