本日は火曜日に出勤している講師Timのご紹介です。明るく元気で料理好きなTim。以前は韓国に住んでたこともあるそうです。90年代の日本の歌や映画なども好きなので、いろんな日本の歌手や俳優さんなども知っています😂！そういうお話もぜひしてみてくださいね！

Hello, My name is Tim! I’m from the state of Ohio in the USA! I’ve lived in 3 countries! America (obviously), Korea (for about 9 years), and now Japan (since January of 2019). I have too many hobbies to list, but my main hobbies include cooking (Italian, Mexican and Asian cuisine), playing video games (PlayStation, Switch, and phone) and collecting Jpop/Jrock CDs and records. I’m a huge fan of Japanese Pop and Rock music especially from the 90’s. If you are a music fan I’m sure we can talk endlessly and maybe give each other recommendations if we don’t know something. As for classes I always try to make lessons funny and relatable so the language can easily be applied in daily life rather than just the textbook scenarios. Also if you are looking for pronunciation help I’m your guy!! So if its food, music, games or want an easy way to remember phrases and pronunciation…lets enjoy class together!!

②英語日記コース
英語で書いた日記やエッセーをネイティヴ添削者が丁寧に添削します。 文法や綴りを正しく直してくれるのはもちろん、ネイティヴの自然な表現を学ぶことができます。レッスンで話したい内容をライティングコースで添削してもらってからレッスンで使えると、自信を持って話す事ができるようになります。日記以外でも、映画の鑑賞文や、日本の文化（お寺の参拝のルール・お城の説明など）を外国人に紹介する内容の文章、メール添削など内容は日記に限りませんので自由に書いてみてください。量は1回200英単語。だいだいA4用紙の半分程度です。

本日は、Patchがネットカフェについてブログを書いてくれましたのでご紹介致します。カフェはカフェでもMarshalのカフェブログとは異なり、ネットカフェについてです！ぜひリーディングの練習に読んでみてくださいね。

I suppose they are a bit old fashioned these days now that almost everyone has a PC, but net cafes seem really futuristic to me (probably because we don’t have any in America). In college I certainly was a gamer and played PC games like Valorant and Overwatch every week, but after moving to Japan I stopped almost entirely. Of course I left my computer and other games behind for a reason, after-all I am more than entertained everyday just by living in Tokyo. Still, it’s really nice to be able to play online games every once and a while. While it might seem mundane to some, even the atmosphere and design of net cafes are interesting to me. In my mind, I figured they were only computer rooms; so I was really surprised to see all the manga, drinks, snacks, and other things that make them more like gaming hotels than cafes! I don’t visit often, and never overnight (but I think it’s interesting that you can) so right now net cafes are just a little gaming oasis for me. It’s also fun for me to get to practice my Japanese online instead of just in person, and experience the different ways people talk online. I could switch my own game language to English (although that feels a bit silly while playing on Tokyo servers), but so far it’s fun and not too difficult to play my same favorite games in a new language. When I first moved it was easy to miss all the little aspects of American daily life, but recently I’ve started to think about all the little things I’ll miss from Tokyo! I can definitely say, net cafes will be on that list!

昨日のブログに引き続き本日も、「コーヒー大好きMarshalのおすすめカフェ」をご紹介致します。

コーヒーと日本のレトロなカフェが大好きで、毎週のようにカフェに行っているMarshal。昨年もたくさんのおすすめカフェブログを書いてくれましたが、今年もすでにたくさん行っているようですので、最近のおすすめカフェをご紹介致します。ぜひリーディングの練習に挑戦してみてください😊。

☕️ Muji Cafe

I had seen on Instagram that the Muji flagship store in Ginza had been renovated, and there was now a cool cafe on the 6th floor. I really do love Muji, so we decided to check it out. The 6th floor was dimly lit, with a large counter and several tables. It felt surprisingly upscale for Muji. We were lucky enough to get a seat at a table, and had a nice view of the lower floors. There were also tall bookshelves next to the tables, and we were able to browse some incredibly interesting books while we waited for our coffee to be prepared. I ordered a cappuccino to get a feeling of the cafe’s quality. Honestly, I was expecting to get a sweet and milky cappuccino similar to Starbucks, but I was very surprised to get an intense and slightly bitter drink with an emphasis on its espresso. It was a real cappuccino! I really enjoyed it, the cappuccino was professionally done. I had such a great time here that I think it will become one of my usual cafe spots when I visit Ginza. On the ground floor, they had a section devoted entirely to different blends of Muji coffee. This feature might be unique to the Ginza location only, but I haven’t checked many other locations. We were shocked to see how many different blends were available. Even more surprising was that the bags of coffee beans also had very recent roast dates. Some batches were roasted on the very same day they were sold! That’s actually much fresher than coffee beans I get at other roasteries. To add to this list of features, there’s even a Muji bakery on the ground floor. I recommend their almond croissant, if it’s available. All in all, the Muji flagship store has a lot to offer besides the usual shopping.

本日は、「コーヒー大好きMarshalのおすすめカフェ」をご紹介致します。

コーヒーと日本のレトロなカフェが大好きで、毎週のようにカフェに行っているMarshal。昨年もたくさんのおすすめカフェブログを書いてくれましたが、今年もすでにたくさん行っているようですので、最近のおすすめカフェをご紹介致します。ぜひリーディングの練習に挑戦してみてください😊。

☕️ Horiguchi Coffee

This cafe is truly a high quality cafe. This cafe focuses mainly on coffee and dessert. As soon as I walked in, I could tell they were incredibly passionate about their coffee. The room is spacious and modern, with unique wooden chairs at each table. When we were ordering coffee, the staff described the different flavors of their coffee in great detail, and they were able to make recommendations based on our tastes. The staff were incredibly polite and friendly. I was honestly surprised by how considerate and knowledgeable they were. Even more surprisingly, they bowed very deeply when they explained that the blend we wanted was sold out. I really haven’t seen such dedication to customer service like this before at a cafe. Speaking of blends, they have a huge selection of arranged coffee, single origin coffee, and blend coffee. Their blends are organized by number, and we were interested in blends number 9 and 10 since they were darker roasts. If you enjoy dark roasts with less acidity, I believe Horiguchi coffee is a fantastic place to go. Light roasts with fruity flavors are more popular these days, but I really prefer the nutty and chocolate flavors that darker roasts can provide. Of the two blends we ordered, blend number 10 was absolutely my favorite. It had a smokey, chocolate flavor that was rich and comforting. This cafe is a new favorite of mine.

本日は川崎校講師のPatchの冬休みの思い出をご紹介致します。Patchが英語で書いてくれたのでぜひリーディングにチャレンジしてみて下さいね！

This Christmas season was not just my first holiday experience in Japan, but also my first holiday experience outside America. Like in Japan, the Christmas and New Year’s holidays in America are all about family. Luckily I haven’t been very homesick before this, but of course Christmas and New Year’s made me feel a bit of longing. So, I’m really grateful I had so many good new holiday experiences here in Japan. The most new and special thing for me was participating in the midnight bell ringing (Joya no Kane) at my community shrine in Kugayama. I had no idea how many people would line up and visit the shrine so I was really pleasantly surprised to see everyone. The atmosphere was completely new to me, but I felt really lucky to take part in this old tradition. I was a bit worried about not doing anything wrong at the shrine, so I was really surprised when they gave me so much sake in the wooden masu cup. Then, I was shocked again when they didn’t take the masu cup back! The shrine staff thought it was funny and maybe even thought I was joking when I asked if I could keep it!

Happy New Year everyone!
My New Year resolution is to travel more. I would love to travel to Egypt to see ancient artifacts. Growing up, my father and I used watch a lot history documentaries together. I remember when I first learned about mummies and have been captivated since. To see the Pyramids and mummies in person would be a dream come true for me.
