先日の2/6（火）に２月度のイベントレッスンを開催いたしました✨
１月度に続き、２月も様々なレベルの生徒様にご参加いただき盛り上がっていました＾＾✨
２月⛄のテーマは💋発音💋という事で
英語の早口言葉音など、普段のテキストレッスンとはまた違ったレッスンでした！

Hello Everyone!
As I mentioned in my last message, this month we had another event lesson in Izumiotsu. Once again many people were interested and the event quickly became full! The topic of the event this month was pronunciation. Students had the opportunity to practice pronunciation that is particularly difficult for Japanese people.

前回のメッセージでもお伝えしましたが、今月も泉大津でイベントレッスンを行いました。今回もたくさんの方にご参加いただき、あっという間に満席となりました！今月のテーマは発音。日本人にとって特に難しい発音を練習しました。
The first period, which was conducted by James C, was all about voiced and unvoiced sounds. The second period, which was conducted by myself, was about problem sounds. The English language has more sounds than the Japanese language, meaning that there are some sounds that exist in English that do not exist in Japanese.
ジェームスが担当した1時間目は、有声音と無声音について。私（トミー）が担当した2時限目は、難しい発音についてでした。英語には日本語よりも多くの音があり、日本語にはない音も存在しますね。
First we started by discussing what sounds Japanese people often get confused by, for example; “f” vs “h” and “b” vs “v”. Personally, I think the most difficult phonics for Japanese people are the “l” and “r” sounds. After our discussion, we then practiced some tongue twisters focusing on several problem sounds, the “l” and “r” sounds for example. A good tongue twister for these is “red lorry, yellow lorry”. Although difficult, this was a lot of fun and the students all seemed to really enjoy it.
まず、日本人がよく混同する音といえば「f」と「h」、「b」と「v」など。個人的には、日本人にとって一番難しいフォニックスは「l」と「r」だと思います。ディスカッションの後、私たちはいくつかの練習をしました。例えば “l “と “r “の音に焦点を当てたベロツイスターを練習した。「red lorry, yellow lorry」というのが、この音に関するよい舌回しの例です。難しいけれども、これはとても楽しく、生徒たちはみんな本当に楽しそうでした。
After the lessons some students stayed in the lobby to discuss English pronunciation and enjoy a coffee. We were discussing some other words that Japanese people find difficult to pronounce. I also mentioned to the students that they should not worry about it too much as many foreigners learning Japanese also find Japanese pronunciation to be difficult for example; for me I find words with ゆ and よ, as in しゅしょう, to be very difficult. The best way to get over the pronunciation problems is to simply practice more.
レッスンの後も少しの時間に、英語の発音について話し合ったり、私たちは、日本人が発音しにくいと感じる単語について話し合いました。日本語を勉強している外国人の多くも日本語の発音は難しいと感じるので、あまり気にしすぎないようにということも生徒たちに伝えました。発音の問題を克服する最善の方法は、単純に練習を重ねることです。例えば、私は「しゅしょう」のように「ゆ」と「よ」がつく単語がとても難しいと感じています。
