今回は、アメリカ出身のDavid（デイビッド）先生より、ピクニックに関するエッセイを作ってもらったので、ご紹介いたします🤗
Hello Everybody,
Did you have a pleasant summer? Did you go picnicking? Did you bring along Kentucky Fried Chicken? Well, if you did then you are acting like a lot of friends and family that I know back in my hometown of Lexington, Kentucky!
Once the summer heat is over, we go picnicking by lakes, rivers, and streams and I guarantee the No.1 food brought on those days is still fried chicken.It is so delicious, nutritious, and satisfying that we come to expect it.
My grandmother would always fry chicken for 20 people in the early morning of a picnic day; also, she would prepare potato salad or macaroni salad, butthe fried chicken was the most important part of picnicking back in Kentucky.
Fresh fruit or homemade pies were also put in the car, along with freshly made lemonade and plenty of ice. The car always smelled so fantastic while driving there that we were tempted to pull over and eat inside the car.
At the picnic spot, a red-and-white checkered blanket was put down and the picnic would begin. I remember the food tasting so much better in the open wind while relaxing and talking about school life or what was in the news.
Nowadays, a lot of families do the same thing but with bought chicken and side dishes from Kentucky Fried Chicken or from their local supermarkets.The idea is the same, and the picnics are still really enjoyable moments.
Still, in my humble opinion, there is nothing quite like homemade cooking to give any family gathering a special magic and charm that shows we care. People are busy, but still find time to share homemade dishes at picnics.
