The Union Jack is the flag of the United Kingdom, a nation made from the unification of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and is also the nation that I call my own. It is a red, blue and white flag which if you look closer, is in-fact three older flags combined together. Yes, that’s right, the flag actually contains the red and white St. George’s cross to represent England, combined with the white saltire (cross) of the St. Andrew’s flag to represent Scotland and the red saltire of St. Patrick to represent Ireland. 
There is no representation for Wales, whose flag contains a dragon, which I think would be an amazing addition to my home nations flag.

As this flag is the national flag of the entire British realm (what is left of the British Empire). It is often found in the canton (upper flagpole-side quarter) of many of the colonies of Britain. It has a some point been seen on the flags for Aden, Basutoland, Barbados. Botswana, Borneo, Burma, Canada, Sri Lanka. Cyprus, Dominica, British East Africa (Kenya), Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guiana, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Malaysia, Lagos, Malta, Mauritius, Nigeria, Palestine, Malaysia, Rhodesia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Somaliland, South Africa, Sudan, India, Tanganyika, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, the United States, and Weihaiwei.
You might had just read the United States in the above list and been confused. The Union Jack and the Star Spangled Banner that America uses have the same colors but they don’t look alike. Well, the United States first flag, called the Grand Union Flag was based on the Union Jack, and it’s design has been left seen in Hawaii’s national flag. So as you can see the Union Jack flag is a historically important flag.
