本日はオーストラリア出身の講師Mattに最近はまっていることについて教えてもらいました！
Hi everyone! Recently I’ve really gotten into my second hobby, photography! Tokyo and Japan in general are such fantastic places for photographers. There are so many interesting and beautiful places in Japan, whether it be the street scenes of urban Tokyo or the beautiful countryside in the more out of the way places. Also, because there are four distinct seasons in Japan I can photograph the same scene at different times and capture a completely different mood or light.
I’ve been using Instagram and photo sites to get inspiration and find different locations that maybe the average person doesn’t know about, like a Shinkansen depot where all the bullet trains are limed up in a row or a spot where an illuminated Skytree is reflected at night in the water. It’s also a great opportunity to get out and explore some parts of Tokyo that I wouldn’t usually venture to get that really cool shot.
I think when you are mad about photography you can find something interesting in even the most mundane places, the neighbourhood street, a train station, the local park and of course when you go travelling there is the challenge and reward of getting that unique photo that captures a fleeting moment or makes people say “wow!”. I’ve been lucky to have a couple of my photos selected as Editor’s Choice by National Geographic. That really made my day!
