Hello, my name is Gabriel（ガブリエル）. I’m from Oklahoma, America. Maybe you have heard “Oklahoma” before because of the old folk dance song, “Oklahoma Mixer.” Many students at Nova have told me that it was a very popular song that they played during their school festivals. However, I think that Oklahoma Mixer is now more popular in Japan than Oklahoma.
私は、アメリカのオクラホマ州の出身です。 古いフォークダンスソング「オクラホマミキサー」で「オクラホマ」を聞いた人がいるかもしれませんね。 みなさん、それが彼らの文化祭の間に演奏しにとっても人気のある曲であると話してくれましたよ。 ですが、日本ではオクラホマよりもオクラホマミキサーの方が人気があると思います。
Oklahoma is also known for its frequent tornadoes. Japan has a rainy season around June and July, but Oklahoma has a “tornado” season from about April to July. One of the biggest tornadoes in Oklahoma’s history occured in 2013. It was about 2km wide and its wind speed was greater than 335km/h. However, almost everyone in Oklahoma are prepared and used to tornadoes, and most homes have an underground shelter, so people are usually safe.
オクラホマは頻繁な竜巻で知られています。 日本では6月と7月に梅雨がありますが、オクラホマ州では4月から7月にかけて「竜巻」の季節があります。 オクラホマ州の歴史の中で最大の竜巻の1つは2013年に発生しました。幅は約2 kmで、風速は335 km / hを超えていました。 しかし、オクラホマのほとんどすべての人が竜巻に備えられ、慣れてるんです。ほとんどの家には地下の避難所があるので、人々は通常安全です。
Besides Oklahoma Mixer and tornadoes, Oklahoma is also well-known for Bricktown, located downtown in the capital, Oklahoma City. Bricktown is full of old buildings that are almost entirely made of brown and red bricks.
オクラホマミキサーや竜巻に加えて、オクラホマは首都オクラホマシティのダウンタウンにあるブリックタウンでも有名です。 ブリックタウンには、ほぼ完全に茶色と赤のレンガで作られた古い建物がたくさんあります。
