4. Caernarfon and Caerphilly, Wales: Located in Gwynedd county and Caerphilly county rexpectively, you might recognise these castles from Laputa, one of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghiblis` most famous films. The inspiration for the castles in Laputa were taken from these Northern and Southern Welsh towns and Castles, after Miyazaki visited Wales in 1984 and 1985, he became fascinated by the mining towns and beautiful medieval architecture and incorporated them into the film. The miners in the local village are inspired by the local Welsh miners. While these may be a little out of the way compared to the other spots, they are definitely worth a trip to see some medieval and beatiful locations, especially if you love Ghibli.
5. York, England: Often sited as being the most haunted places in the UK, old buildings and compact, cobbled streets in an area called The Shambles, make you feel like you`re walking through the real Diagon Alley from Harry Potter. York is also famous for Yorkshire pudding, a staple of a UK roast dinner, cheese, smoked fish and Forced Rhubarb. Rhubard is a plant grown in the UK that`s often used in desserts and jam, and Forced Rhubard is specially grown in the dark, producing a sweeter, more delicate flavour, these can all be bought at The Shambles Market. This small city is a great stop on the way to our next destinatio
6. Edinburgh, Scotland: While Scotland is home to some of the most beautiful nature in the UK, I have to make this list manageable, so my final recomendation would be Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. Castles, beautiful churches, Whiskey Tours and a small village hidden within the city, are some of the key spots to see in probably my favourite city in the UK. Edinburgh Castle can be seen from everywhere, guarding the city from it`s vantage point above. Dean Village, a small and quaint village tucked down a hill just off from one of the busiest streets in the city, transports you back to an older era of Edinburgh, I recommend going in late spring/early summer for the best views. Finally, a trip to Arthur`s Seat, a mountain that overlooks all of the city, but is a manageable one hour or less hike from the car park.
I`d love to recomemend more places to visit in my homeland, but this blog would be a bit too long, while I think my recomendations are solid, there are so many more incredible places to visit in the UK, especially during late Spring and Summer, when it`s not raining constantly. You`ll have an amazing time I`m sure, but just don`t get your hopes up about the food.
