本日は、バレンタインデーですね！チョコもらえるかドキドキしている、もしくはチョコあげるのにドキドキしている方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか🥰？
海外ではバレンタインはカップルの日という国が多く、お互いにプレゼントを送りあうのが一般的で、日本のように女性から男性にチョコをあげる文化や、義理チョコを渡す文化は珍しいようです。しかし、Cydneyがアメリカの子どもたちのバレンタイン文化について紹介してくれて、これはクラスみんなでお菓子などを送りあうようなので、ちょっと義理チョコ文化に似ているような気もしましたので、ご紹介致します。ぜひ英文のリーディングにチャレンジしてみてくださいね！
Valentine’s Day was always so fun as a kid. When I was in elementary school, teachers would give us a couple of hours of free time to celebrate. Everyone would prepare Valentines to bring in and give to everyone in class. Valentines usually included a handmade or store-bought card and a single piece of candy. Choosing your Valentine’s Day cards was always so exciting because there are so many options for sale. You could buy any style, from Barbie to Batman. We would write each classmate’s name on a card and attach a candy or chocolate to it. Then, on Valentine’s Day, we would tape a bag to our desks and then go around putting our Valentines in everyone’s bag. At the end, we would have some easy, fun Valentine handout or game that we could do while chatting, eating candy, and going through our collection of cards. Finding out what cool cards everyone bought was just as exciting as the candy, so it was always a great day.
