Summer season is finally here. Sun’s out, so is the most popular thirst quencher ,a shaved ice dessert called kakigori in Japanese. There are different kinds of drink and food you can buy to beat the heat of summer.
In the Philippines, we have this dessert popularly known as “Halo-halo.” The literal translation of halo-halo in English is “Mix.” With that being said, you’ll have an idea about the way you’re gonna eat this type of cold food. The ingredients of halo-halo include: Nata de coco, Kaong (sugar palm fruit), Saba banana (sweet plantain), and a lot of shaved ice. There’s more! You’ll top this with Ube (yam) and pudding, then drizzle it with some evaporated milk. This must-try dessert has a lot of versions and what’s great about it is that you can buy them anywhere. Whether at the bus or train terminals or even at a five-star hotel.
