The Value of a Simple Diary 日記をつけること
Keeping a diary is always a great way to maintain and improve your English.
Here are a few key tips to make sure your diary is really helping you.
日記をつけることは、常にあなたの英語能力を維持し、改善してくれる素晴らしい方法の一つです。 日記を書く事が本当に重要なということをこれからご紹介いたします。
1. Keep it regular.（定期的に決めて書く）
A diary doesn’t have to be every day, but having a routine is important.
You can set designated “diary days” each week based on your schedule, for example
Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday.
日記は毎日である必要はありませんが、ルーティーンを持っていることが大切です。 たとえば、スケジュールに基づいて、指定された「曜日」を毎週設定してください。 火曜日、木曜日、日曜日。
2. Keep it short.（短く書く）
This is espeially true in the beginning. Three or four sentences are enough.
An English diary needs to be something you can do even when you’re busy.
If it’s too long, you might want to skip a day and the routine is broken.
特に重要なのが「長く書かない」。3〜4文で十分なのです。 英語の日記は、忙しいときでもできるこ要です。 長すぎる場合は、1日をスキップするとルーティンが保てなくなります。
3. Be honest.（正直に書く）
If nothing really happened, don’t worry, you can say so!
In fact, you might learn new things as you talk about it.
“Nothing much happened today. It was a run-of-the-mill day.”
In this diary entry, the writer learns “run-of-the-mill”
何も書くことがなくても心配しないでくださいね。そう言えばいいんですよ！ 実際、「今日は何も起こりませんでした。それは、ごく普通の日でした。」と書けばまだ、学ぶことができるかもしれません。
4. Past, present, future.（過去、現在、未来）
As well as today’s events, remember to talk about how you’re feeling now and
what’s coming next. This is the best way to practice different tenses.
“I walked a lot today. Maybe I overdid it. My feet are so sore! I have to take it
easy tomorrow because I’m going to go hiking on the weekend!”
何かのイベントと同じように、今の気分についてなどもおすすめです。これは、異なる時制を練習するとっても良い方法です。 「今日はたくさん歩きましたが、歩きすぎたかもしれません。足がとても痛いです！ 週末にハイキングに行くので明日は楽しみです」など。
5. Not sure how to say it? Find out.言い方が分からない時→探し出す
This is the best way to learn and remember new vocabulary. If you don’t know the
right word, look it up and put it in your diary.これは、新しい語彙を学んで覚えるのに最適な方法です。あなたが知らない場合 正しい言葉、それを調べて、日記に入れてみてください。
“Today, I was so surprised! I bumped into a friend from my high school days.
It was the first time in years. She’s going to vocational school now.”
In this diary entry, the writer learns “bump into” and “vocational school”.
