さてさて突然ですが、皆様も生活している中で、
海外の方向けに英語に訳されている看板 をよく見かけるのではないでしょうか？？
12月某日、休憩時間に先生同士が何か写真を見せ合いながら、
ワイワイしている場面に遭遇し、何をしているのかと思ったら、
日本で見かけた面白い英語看板について情報交換を行ってました。笑
そこで今回は、池袋東口の仲間に加わり2ヶ月ですでに大人気のドイツ語講師、
Isabelle先生に、日本にあるちょっとおかしな英語看板について、
ブログを書いてもらいました✨

It is a cold morning in Tokyo. I am sitting in the warm train on my way to Ikebukuro. The traindoors are opening and I feel the cold wind towards me.
Autum is my favourite time to drink tea, especially in the cold morning. I decided to go to the next vending mashine to get a hot milktea.
The tea is slowly warming up my cold hands. While viewing the christmas decoration, I am drinking the last sips of my milktea.
The bottle is empty and I am trying to find the next trashcan. After a while I finally found one which reads in English : “plastic bottole” (ペットボトル).
While questioning this strange written English word, I am throwing my milktea away. I am moving forward on the way to the toilette where the next surprise awaits me.
On the toilette door it says “Please make it gently” (優しく閉めてください). I am not quiet sure what thats supposed to mean and if it is referred to my way of using a toilette.
I still have a bit time and thinking of going to the next Izakaya. From the interesting toilette experience I got quiet thirsty. While looking through
the menu I am reading : Soft drinks, Juice, Oolong Tea and ….. Dry Ginger Air? (辛口ジンジャーエール) Do they offer now air in a glas with ginger flavour?
I am not quiet sure, so I just go with the Oolong Tea for now to be safe. After a nice lunch I keep on walking, when suddenly another English sentence catches my attention.
On a door smiles a cute little apple at me. It says : Apple does not eat.(お風呂に入っているリンゴは食べられません) Suddenly more and more questionable and funny translations cross my way.
Makoto ni I’m sorry. Kechapp is ari masen. Go ryouyoustand please. (申し訳ありませんが、ケチャップのご用意はございません。何卒ご了承ください) Please urinate with precision and elegance. (トイレをきれいに使って頂きありがとうございます) I finally arrive at my workplace. One thing is for sure. Those translations surely put a smile on my face, even so they did not made any sense to me.
